GameToons Wiki

Welocme To the Manual of Style! Please read here before editing or creating a new page. This page may need to be updated as the wiki expands.

Writing

  • It is fine to use either International or American English, as long as the words are spelt correctly. Be aware that other users may change things to their preferred spellings out of habit.
    • This wiki treats the roles "Crewmate" and "Impostor" as proper nouns, so please capitalize them when you write them.
    • GameToons, GameTunes, and NewscapePro are treated as single words in camelcase (capitalizing letters other than the first letter in the word.)
    • According to GameToons, the proper way to spell his name is Novisor. However, spelling it in camelcase as NoVisor or hyphenating it as No-Visor is also accepted on this wiki.
  • Be professional. Write clearly, avoid addressing the reader as "you," do not add personal opinions, and do not use crass language.
  • Do not add fanon to wiki pages -- put that in comments or discussion forum posts. Reasonable speculation is allowed.
  • Titles of games (Among Us, The Henry Stickmin Series, etc.) should be italicized. Song titles should be in quotation marks.
  • When speaking about people of unknown or indeterminate gender, or hypothetical people, please use "they/them" pronouns. It is simpler than phrases like "he or she" or "(s)he."
  • Make sure your information is accurate and sourced from GameToons or one of their associated channels. Beware of impostor channels posting false information.
  • Link to other pages within articles. This makes traveling between pages (wiki walking) easier. That being said, do not overuse links. For example, if you are mentioning Player in an article about Veteran, you only need to link to Player's page once in that article. Minimize external links.
  • If you include images, use high-quality pictures from official GameToons source. Please do not use fan art as page images.

Sample Article -- Character

(Use the top line to insert an infobox. Usually, only characters and episodes need infoboxes. We have added Angel's infobox as a sample.) (Please note that in the article proper, headers are one size larger than they are here. We have made them smaller on this page to make jumping from section to section easier.)

"A quote by the character."

--the character, and the context. (Add a quote from the character, if applicable.)

Give a basic description of the character. Include details such as whether they are major or minor, their suit color and hat, what their voice sounds like, etc.

Biography

Write the character's story and biography here. Include what episode they debuted in, what happened, etc. If other life details about the character are relevant (e.g. Mr. Cheese's backstory from "The Life of Mr. Cheese"), include them here.

Personality

Describe the character's personality in general here. Are they kind or grumpy? What is their motivation? Do they have a special "gimmick" or quirk? What are some of their character flaws?

When Crewmate

Describe how the character behaves when they are assigned Crewmate. Do they do their tasks or goof off? Are they lucky or unlucky? If the character has not been seen as a Crewmate yet, please mention so here.

When Impostor

Describe how the character behaves when they are assigned Impostor. What kind of strategies do they have? If they have not been seen as an Impostor, please mention it here.

Relationships

List some other characters that are particularly relevant, with a link to them. Describe their relationship -- are they friends? enemies? romantically interested in each other?

Trivia

  • In a bulleted list, write some facts about the character.
  • They can be anything -- references to other media, how they are unique from other characters, etc.

Costumes

(Make a gallery of the character's costumes if they have more than one. We have used Veteran's gallery as an example.)

Sample Article -- Group/Association

(Insert an infobox on this line. We have used the one for the New England Patriots as an example.) (Please note that in the article proper, headers are one size larger than they are here. We have made them smaller on this page to make jumping from section to section easier.)

Add a short description about the group. Include details like its membership, purpose, characteristics, etc.

Biography

Give a history of the group, such as when it was created and by who.

Personality

Describe the traits and behaviors of the group as a whole. If individual members stand out, you may want to note their personalities too.

Trivia

  • In a bulleted list, give extra information that may be of interest.

Sample Article - Episode

(Insert an infobox into the top line. Fill it in with relevant information such as the release date, episode number, the episodes that come before and after it, etc.)

Describe the episode briefly, such as giving its number in the chronology. Give the basic idea of the plot without too many details, such as a listing for an episode on a TV guide. If the episode has a transcript, link it here.

Plot

Give a detailed explanation of the plot. Please use paragraphs instead of dumping all the information in a single block of text. Since spoilers cannot be avoided in this type of plot summary, include them.

Characters

List all the characters who appear in the episode, with links to their respective pages.

Errors

  • If there are animation or logic errors in the episode, list them here.

Trivia

  • In a bulleted list, write some extra facts about the episode.
  • These could include pop culture references included in the episode, allusions to previous episodes, etc.
